I am not quite sure which season is my favorite. It seems that each one provides its own particular brand of beauty, and I seem to be more taken with the one I am currently in as each new one rolls around. So, it’s no surprise that I would say that this particular Middle Tennessee fall season’s influence on me has been exceptional. If I could manage it, and pay the bills, I believe I would take a little trip somewhere every day to get out and enjoy the ever-changing aspects of this fall season.

Well, we (the family) were able to take another small trip yesterday to spend some time with our oldest daughter, a freshman at Middle Tennessee State University, and her boyfriend. We made the 50-minute drive to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to attend church at New Vision Baptist Church, and to enjoy a nice lunch at a local restaurant.

One of my daughter’s favorites is a place called B. McNeel’s Restaurant [http://www.meatandthree.com/tn/bmcneels/], which features upscale dining for Sunday Brunch and evening meals, but offers a Meat and Three lunch option Tuesday through Friday. Housed in an old, two-story building just off the square, the décor of B. McNeel’s is nicely elegant. I have a real penchant for historical architecture and old buildings that have been restored/remodeled, and this one is a pleasure to spend time in. The upstairs dining room features a couple of expansive floor-to-ceiling bookcases, with glass fronts. The wood molding, large windows, exposed interior brick, and the color choices, as well as the white tablecloths and comfortable table arrangements, provide an open, yet intimate atmosphere for a relaxing fine lunch, dinner or brunch.

Even though I have not experienced the Meat and Three lunch option yet at B. McNeel’s, it is likely very good, if the brunch is any indication. I can’t imagine consuming a feast like that brunch every day, although I can guarantee it would not take long to outgrow every thing I own (e.g., clothes, truck, la-z-boy, etc.) if I did so. I am pretty positive that I/we will come up with a good reason to visit our daughter one week day in the coming weeks. Gee, I wonder where we’ll go.

You should find a reason to visit Murfreesboro soon, too, and consider stopping by B. McNeel‘s. If you have already been, however, and have eaten a Meat and Three meal at B. McNeel, or have a story (past or present) about any other Meat and Three, don’t keep it to yourself. Let us know about it. Share your story, and let it become a part of the Meat and Three historical record. You can email me at phil@meatandthree.com with your story, or questions or comments about the site. I look forward to hearing from you.
