Country Junction Restaurant in Joelton, TN

The following report comes from Randy Fought of Madison, Tennessee:
Yesterday, a friend and I were looking for a Meat and 3 in northern
Davidson County (rural area of
Nashville, TN). We sort of lost our way on hilly
and curvy Union Hill Road. Our journey took us to the small town of Joelton and
the
Country Junction Restaurant [
http://www.meatandthree.com/tn/countryjunction/].
The Country Junction caters to locals, but also attracts travelers off
Interstate 24, which is just a couple hundred yards away (one car in
the parking lot had an Oklahoma license plate).
There are two large dining rooms: one to the right for smoking and
one to the left for non-smokers. We sat in the non-smoking section. In
the middle of the building is the entrance, cashier counter and kitchen
to the back. The dining room walls are decorated with pictures of
Joelton and family pictures (I guess, of the owners).
I had country steak ribs with sauerkraut, green beans, corn and
baked apples. Oh, and cornbread muffins. Everything was good, but the
baked apples were probably the best I have ever tasted. Baked apples
are technically a fruit, but at a Meat & 3 they count as one of the
vegetables. My friend, as usual, had catfish. He would be happy to eat
lunch everyday at a Catfish and 3! He has been known to
call several Meat and Threes to see which ones are serving catfish
that day. He rounded out his meal with squash casserole and lima beans.
I was too full to indulge in dessert. Too bad. They had about 15 to 20 different types of pies and cakes to choose from.
So, if you live in the Nashville area and are looking for a
"country drive" and a good meal, head north to Joelton and the Country
Junction Restaurant. If you are passing through Nashville along I-24,
look for Joelton Exit #35, about 15 miles northwest of downtown
Nashville.
