I have read the reports about Nashville, Tennessee's Belle Meade Cafeteria [http://www.meatandthree.com/tn/bellemeadecafeteria/] closing and it is really sad that the closing has to happen at this time of the year. The official closing time will be 2:00 this coming Sunday -  Christmas Eve. It has been my personal pleasure to dine there several times over the years with family and friends, although it has been a while since my last visit. Each one was enjoyable and the food was very good.

The last such visit came about in December 2004 as a group of us from work made the rounds to a number of B&B's in the Nashville area. We worked at Bed & Breakfast Inns ONLINE (BBOnline.com) and wanted to get out and spread some Christmas cheer and meet some of the Innkeepers that we had not met before as well as some that we had known for a number of years. Sandwiched together in the BBOnline Mobile, we were greeted by some really nice Innkeepers, some of which filled our bellies with incredible Christmas goodies.

In spite of those goodies, we were in the vicinity of the Belle Meade Cafeteria at the noon hour and stopped in for lunch. As was true in the past, this experience was one of relaxation, with quality southern comfort food and attentive service by the staff. Also, despite its Belle Meade/West End location, it was not over-priced, and provided a good value for a lunchtime gathering. It is a shame that it will not be around this time next week.

The Belle Meade Cafeteria will, indeed, be missed and I, for one, am sorry to see this chapter of its history come to an end.
