You hear of a place called “Ole’ Farmhouse Diner” and you expect to see an old farm house when you drive out for a visit. Things are not always as they seem and, in this case, you might scratch your head at first since the building is not even a house … until you walk in the door.

One of the things you notice inside the Ole’ Farmhouse Diner [http://www.meatandthree.com/tn/oldfarmhousediner/] is all the roosters. There are quite a few of them, in multiple shapes and sizes and forms, but not too many to overwhelm you. The interior gives you the feeling that you are in a place out in the country where the people make you feel welcome and the food is just like your Grandmother’s. It’s comfortable, and the mood of some of the guests was pretty light-hearted, especially a group of guys having a good time cutting up with the waitresses. This day’s guests included a couple of groups of guys over in the smoking section, with several smaller groups of 4. The restaurant was at least half full while we were there. The couple next to us included a man that tells everyone he talks to about the hamburgers he orders at Ole’ Farmhouse Diner. He tells them they are the best ones he’s every had - strangers, the folks are church, whomever.

The welcome provided by the owner, Kevin Easley, seems very genuine, and he really seems to enjoy taking care of his customers. Kevin and two of the waitresses (all of them dressed in their Ole’ Farmhouse Diner shirts) did just that with my friend, Randy, and I on our trip there this past Thursday, making sure our glasses were full and that our needs were met. He opened the restaurant 9 months ago after cleaning, re-working and revising the former restaurant that was in the same location. It now sports a homey, country feel with knick-knacks, a 4-person bar, hanging plants and all those roosters (plates, wallpaper border, figurines, salt/pepper table holder, etc.).

The food choices were several, from the menu to the food bar with a couple of meat selections, several vegetables and a salad bar, to the meat and two/three options listed on the white board. Randy went for the bar, taking the Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, mac-n-cheese, garden salad and sweet tea. I opted for the meat and two option, choosing the tasty meatloaf, green beans, mashed potatoes, cornbread and sweet tea served in one of those big “Ball” canning jars. The 7 or 8 dessert choices sounded awfully tempting, but I had to push away.

It was a good, enjoyable lunch meeting and worth the time. Kevin’s personal involvement with his guests fits his personality and they seem to have the right recipe for customer satisfaction. Get on out to Millersville, Tennessee (north of Goodlettsville and on the way toward White House) and check out the Ole’ Farmhouse DinerEmail me to let me know about it. I'd love to hear from you.

'Til next time!
